This idea evolved from a comment from a dear friend who told me she ‘didn’t really want a gift for her Birthday, just to know we were all thinking about her…’ My Card and a Gift in One was an instant hit – she loved it xx
I make these little designs – often a smaller version of my Suncatchers and Hangers, in exactly the same way as I make my larger pieces. All start out as a flat piece of base glass and enamel paints, frit (tiny pieces of crushed glass) and other design elements are added before firing in the kiln.
Once fired, the pieces are drilled and ribbon added. They are attached to the cards so that after the event, the glass piece can be removed and hung in a window, kept as a keepsake or added to a keyring – in fact anything or anywhere the recipient fancies and the card can be recycled in the usual way.
Any of my card designs with a ribbon attached will be a ‘Hanger’ card that can be used in this way – they are proving to be one of my best selling items at craft events and markets and I love making them – lots of new design ideas for these cards will be coming over the next few weeks and I take commissions so if there is a particular design you need please email me with your ideas xx
A few customers have asked me about how to pack and post these cards if you are unable to give them in person – I always wrap a little bubble wrap around the card and pop into a flat letter box style posting box which you can find at your local Post Office or online. As long as your item is secure in the box and won’t move around, it will arrive completely safe and can be posted for the price of a large letter.
